______'s Wonderland

Picking up an old story prompt from a couple of years back. Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, the lead character is a man who is repeatedly drawn into a series of dreams. I hope to work more on it this season.

葬列

Shiina Ringo's song, "葬列". has been haunting me recently.

Adiu, Aesop!

Here are a few photos from the mini storybook I created for the tale based on Aesop's The North Wind and The Sun. It's an 8 page, gold-colored hardcover measuring 4 1/4" x 4 1/4", wrapped in a damask-patterned jacket. The pages are drawn with graphite and printed on Canson cream drawing paper to give it a very traditional feel. Despite the trials and tribulations it took to put this little thing together from start to finish, I'm excited with the turn-out! I plan to do more of these little storybooks.

Sun

Here is a quick painting of Sun from Aesop's "The North Wind & the Sun". I'm working on a mini-book and thought that personifying the elements as rivaling goddesses was comically fitting. The book will be in black and white, but I just wanted to do a semi-realistic color study of the characters. I'll work on the Wind later on this week.

dreams

An illustration based on a quote from Albert Einstein: "Imagination is more important than knowledge."

This was drawn with a mechanical pencil and colored in Illustrator. I'm still trying to get the hang of the program. I prefer working in Photoshop because I can achieve effects with a more traditional and organic feel, so this was an interesting task to take.

an ode to the nocturnal muse
